Prabhas may have dedicated five years of his life to the magnum opus Baahubali and reaped just rewards for that. But Mollywood too has a young man, standing on the threshold of adulthood, who has given four years of his life to a film to lend authenticity to his role. The young actor is none other than Minon, who formerly had the prefix Master to his name and had won the National award for the best child artist for 101 Chodyangal. Minon will now be stepping into Mollywood as a hero in the upcoming film Back 2 Life directed by Sidhil Subramanian.
So why did Minon give four years to this film? He answers, “I appear in two distinctive get-ups in the film — one of a thirteen-year-old and the other of a seventeen-year-old. That physical and emotional change was required real-time for the film and hence the wait. The film also has 80 % of VFX graphics, which took some time.” Back 2 Life is a fictional thriller that revolves around the importance of nature and it was this theme that attracted Minon to the role in the first place. Minon, who has never been to school, is an artist who is wise beyond his years. He is a teenager who has learnt and assimilated from his experiences. Nature has always been a big part of his life, be it his surroundings or his paintings.
“I have always cherished a desire to act in a film that revolves around the environment. I personally believe the subject of nature has a good scope for entertainment and I believe the team — me included — can do justice to Mother Nature through this film. This film also looks at the theory of the survival of the fittest,” Minon adds, saying there are no preachy, long-winded messages intended through the film. But it has some deep truths for those who seek. The film is a clarion call for humans to return back to nature and stop exploiting her, with the makers assuring the viewers of some thrilling graphic spectacles.
The four-year-long wait has been a challenge for Minon, nevertheless an exciting one. He says, “It was a big-budget film when it started off four years back. When I was 13, I did not know much about acting. I just followed instructions but now that I am seventeen, I know what acting is. I have learnt the ropes.” This is also a role that has Minon all excited and he emphasises, “I did a lot of hard work for this film. I absolutely love the character and felt a closeness to him.” Meanwhile, Minon has also got a role in the film Kidu, where he plays a boy studying in class 11.
