Chartbuster Time for Sithara Krishnakumar
Singer Sithara Krishnakumar is on cloud nine now. Having sung the top chartbuster songs of the year, from Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Jacobinte Swargarajyam, Sithara shares the same joy as the success of the film itself. Being one of the most acclaimed playback singers of Kerala, one can sense her humbleness even when she is basking in the glory of her success as an artist.
The singer shares her experience, working with Jacobinte Swargarajyam team. “It was great to work with Vineeth Sreenivasan and Shaan Rahman. They are great team, and it was a privilege to be a part of them. I had to sing a swara-based song initially, which was used at the crucial part of the movie.”
“Later, Shaan ikka asked me to try the song Thiruvavaniraavu afterwards, which is a song for all generations. They were very friendly and family-like, and I felt very comfortable to work with them,” says Sithara. This is not the first time, Sithara is working with Shaan. “I had previously worked with Shaan Ikka years back for an advertisement jingle.”
More to her chart, the singer also sang for Valliyum Thetti Pulliyum Thetti, the directorial debut of Rishi Sivakumar, and one of the most looked forward movies of the year. The movie is also seeing an upcoming music director Sooraj S. Kurup, whom Sithara says has immense potential to contribute to the music scene in Kerala.
“The music of Valliyum Thetti Pulliyum Thetti is very unique in its composition. It was a different experience working with Sooraj. I have sung the song Pooram Kaanan with Vijay Yesudas, which has a very addictive tone. He has used lot of ethnic and rustic elements in the songs, which I can say was never experimented before in our music industry. The recording was real fun,” says Sithara.
Also a trained Hindustani singer, Sithara hopes to contribute more to the classical music world. "All the playback singing I do for movies, I consider it as a training phase or a prologue to what I see more serious. I plan to do independent solo album which is in the pre-production phase.” The singer will also croon for the movie Godha, which will have Shaan as the composer.
