2.0 sold out for a record price
Actor Rajinikanth is once again showing his power over Indian cinema. The superstar’s upcoming film 2.0, a sequel to his earlier film Robo, has already got a huge price for the Telugu distribution rights.
“Yes, we bought the rights for the Telugu version of the film and it is releasing in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana,” confirms Narayan Das Narang of Asian Cinemas.
Directed by Shankar, the film is releasing in January next year. “This is one of the costliest films in India and we are happy that we have bagged the Telugu theatrical distribution rights,” adds Das.
According to a source close to the production house, the rights were bought for a whopping Rs 80 crore. This is a record price for a dubbed film releasing in Telugu.
2.0, a Shankar directorial, was entirely shot with 3D cameras. Amy Jackson is playing the female lead while Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar is playing the villain. The film already seems to be in demand with the satellite rights sold out for nearly Rs 110 crores in all the languages.
