Tollywood actor Chalapathi Rao faces case for statement on women
Hyderabad: Saroornagar police booked a case against Tollywood character actor Chalapathi Rao for his derogatory remarks about women. The actor’s comment “girls are useful on beds” had created controversy.

Lingaiah of Saroornagar police station.
Chalapathi Rao made the comment at the launch of Telugu film Ra Randoi Veduka Chudham, which means ‘Come, let’s watch the spectacle.’ The movie is produced by Nagarjuna, and stars his son Naga Chaitanya. The female lead is Rakul Preet Singh. The tagline of the film is Ammayilu manashantike hanikaram, which means ‘Women are injurious to mental peace.’
During the audio release show, the woman anchor asked actor Chalapathi Rao a question: “Are women injurious to mental peace?” To which the actor replied, “Women are not injurious to mental peace, they’re fit for sleeping with men.” Famous actors and activists criticised Rao’s comment.
