Boho & beautiful

Your summer closet isn't complete without a chic bohemian blouse.

They love their boho look and we love it how they flaunt the relaxed, casual yet chic avatar. Boho blouses are making a rage this summer as they are easy breezy to carry. They have been spotted on many stars and models too. These modern gypsy style tops can be styled in versatile ways — vintage if you want to go classic or contemporary and even ethnic with a cotton saree drape. These boho peasant shirts or blouses are all about bringing a happy vibe and can be paired in myriad styles.

The peasant blouse is evergreen and has been worn by Grace Kelly in the earlier years to Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, Kim Kardashian and Kate Middleton. Also take cues from our style icons Shraddha Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Lara Dutta, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and others. Several designers have tapped into the dark romance of the Victorian era, putting their own modern spin on high-neck ruffled blouses, with linen, lace, velvet, and tulle. To avoid looking sloppy, we suggest you stick to one articulate piece, and keep the rest of your outfit streamlined and modern.

City based fashion designer Reshma Kunhi who has designed outfits for many south-Indian film stars, states, “Bohemian style blouses have always been a rage and during summer they can look really chic, trendy and stylish. As they are loosely fitted, they make for a perfect summer top. For day wear a cotton boho blouse that’s printed or solid is a best bet. A mid-length boho blouse can even be worn as a dress with Roman sandals. You can find them in a variety of materials, but the best bet is to wear cotton ones with colourful aztec prints on white base for a perfect summer colour burst during the day and opt for chiffons or georgettes for the evening. An off-shouldered boho blouse in off-white looks classy with shorts or ripped jeans.”

Shilpa Shetty was recently spotted in a white off-shouldered flouncy top paired with navy culottes; tie up flats and a tote. City based fashion blogger Shalini Chopra of stylishbynature adds, “It’s easy, it’s breezy, it looks chic. Boho chic blouses, usually in white with tiny sweet embroideries on them, are my favourite on streets when paired with casual cotton shorts or linen pants, festivals when paired with long flared skirts, and even office wear when paired with formal trousers.”
