65-year-old brain dead woman's organs save five lives
Pune: Even in times when mankind is facing violence and despair with value of human life seeming to fade away, some people emerge as a light at the end of tunnel by helping people out. Then there are those who spread hope by helping people even in their death.
Dedicating every bit of your life for the well being of others is a metaphor for tireless service by many, but some people do it literally and one of them is a 65-year-old woman from Maharashtra.
The mother of a Kolhapur based radiologist, the brain dead woman saved five lives by donating her organs last week. The decision came from her family after she was moved to Aster Aadhar Hospital on losing mobility in her limbs and was later declared brain dead.
The eyes, kidneys and liver were then removed from Mrs Sarudkar’s body and taken to Pune where they were transplanted to change the lives of five people.
One of the patients who needed a liver urgently was a 42-year-old farmer who was suffering from the end stage of a liver ailment.
