Your baby has a favourite breast and here's the real reason for it
It has often been observed that no matter how much mothers try, babies seem to prefer only one particular breast while feeding. Many have wondered what may be the reason for this, and while many worry that there may be something wrong with their breasts, research suggests there’s no need to worry.
A midwife said that some women may produce more milk on one side than the other and this may be the reason for babies wanting one boob more over the other. She told Mammamia’s Year One podcast that she has looked after women who had breast tissue developing only on one side and breastfed babies better from that side.
There are no rules regarding how long a woman can feed the baby from one breast and it’s all about what the baby wants. As long as the baby is happy and putting on weight, there’s no reason to worry.
A mother breastfeeding more means more benefits for the child and protection that lasts longer.
