Find out the most popular monsoon travel spot for Indians
While Goa is a hot spot in the summer, it is the most popular destination in the monsoon for Indians, a new survey reveals.
The survey was conducted by online accommodation booking website Hotels.com, IANS reported. They analyzed data on users' hotel searches between June to September 2017. The information collected helped develop India's 2017 ‘Monsoon Travel Hotlist’.
The survey also found the Goan towns people want to see the most. Candolim, Calangute, Arpora and Baga made it in the top 10 list. Compared to 2016, Arpora registered a 91 percent increase in hotel searches.
Apart from Goa, Mumbai came in at second place. Searches for the city jumped by 49 percent compared to last year. Delhi followed in third place with a 50 percent increase. Udaipur, Bengaluru and Jaipur were also mentioned on the hot list.
Jessica Chuang is Hotels.com Director, Regional Marketing Greater China, South East Asia and India. Chaung told IANS the data reveals that Indian travellers are showing a "renewed interest in exploring their home country", especially for mini-vacations.
On an international level, the report revealed Bali was the preferred international destination for short trips. Singapore, Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya and Dubai were also of great interest.
