For the millennial go-getter, there’s probably only one concept of time – right here and right now. And, Bengaluru-based engineer turned entrepreneur, Anoop Santharam gauged the pulse of this city, just right. After conjuring up Daredeliver app, a one-stop shop that promises to get anything delivered to any part of town, the cheery tech-ster shares the inside story with us…
“My best friend, Anusha, used to pester me often with pictures of food while I was busy at work. When you stare at numbers and code all day long and have limited access to good food nearby, inviting snaps like that can be frustrating. So, one day, while I stared helplessly at another picture that she had sent me, I thought what a stellar idea would it be if she could pack a part of what she’s eating and send it over? and that’s when idea was born,” shares the 24-year-old alumnus of Christ University. With the pivotal intent being able to reach out anything under the sun within a span of 24 hours, Anoop says it’s the challenge of working against a time deadline which drives him. “In a start-up city like ours, it’s not hard to find somebody who just created an app. But we wish to stand out by deliver absolutely anything within the city within the same day. So that people actually look up to us in times of need.”
As a gawky teen who often found himself doodling all day, Anoop tells us how donning the entrepreneurial hat was never the intent, despite always wanting to etch out on his own. “Looking back, I think it was my thirst for that next challenge that kept me going. Even when I started my first venture Binox back in college, I never knew that I would associate myself to the term entrepreneur though I was always thrilled about newer ideas and concepts. I was the guy who’d be doodling in the corner and taking part in science exhibits. Somewhere down the line, I started up without realising this was what I always wanted to do,” he adds.
A true blue coder, on days when he just isn’t doing what he loves more, social service is what he likes to pursue, “I make it a point to participate in social activities and causes regularly. Recently, I was part of Trinity Care Foundation where a team of doctors set up medical camps in various parts of Karnataka for free for the underprivileged. I’m a people’s person, and I love being around people and doing community related activities in my free time.”
Speaking about what’s next, he says, “I’d like reach out to more people using several ‘interesting’ marketing strategies. So, I’d love to interact more with people on the streets – college students, working professionals, and people who stay at home to try out the app and discuss its flaws with me. I plan on involving more people so that there’s more trust in whatever we do.”
