MP's husband files kidnap case against Telangana minister's son
Hyderabad: The Punjagutta police registered a case of extortion and wrongful confinement against TS minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav's son Talasani Sai and his friend Ramakrishna on Thursday for allegedly forcing Vizag MP Kottapalli Geetha’s husband Ram Koteswara Rao to sign documents regarding a 5-acre plot in Gachibowli.
Mr Koteswara Rao alleged that Sai and his friends called him to Hotel Taj Krishna to discuss about the land. The minister clarified that Mr Koteswara Rao was not kidnapped and they had just met at the hotel to discuss financial matters.
In his complaint Mr Ram Koteshwara Rao said that one Mr Krishna was a mediator between him and Talasani Sai regarding a business deal they made in 2013. The agreement was connected to the five acres owned by them in Gachibowli and the deal they had made with Ramakrishna and Sudhakar Rao for developing it.
Sai was one of the signatories to the agreement. Later, when they found that there was no progress in developing the land they took it back from the developers. The land is worth around Rs 75 crore.
After that there were disputes between the parties. On Wednesday evening while Mr Koteshwara Rao was at his home in Jubilee hills, Sai's friend Ramakrishna called mediator Krishna and asked him and Mr Koteshwara Rao to come to Hotel Taj Krishna to discuss about the land. Mr Koteshwara Rao said he was forced to sign two documents regarding the land saying that the land will be registered in their name.
Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav denied the allegations saying that Ram Koteswara Rao had taken a loan of Rs 11 crore from his family in 2011 and had paid back only Rs 5 crore. He said that Ram Koteswara Rao had offered to hand over five acres and signed the documents himself. “The CCTV footage from Taj Krishna Hotel clearly shows them in a cheerful mood indicating that it is not a kidnap,” the minister added.
Sources close to the minister said they handed over the documents signed by Mr Rao to the police. Based on Mr Rao's complaint police registered a case. "We are checking the facts in the complaint. Based on evidence we will proceed," inspector S. Mohan Kumar said.
