Tech student killed in mystery car accident in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: A 21-year-old BTech student was killed in a road accident near Journalist Colony in Jubilee Hills in the wee hours of Sunday.
The student, K. Devi, and an individual claiming to be her boyfriend were in the crashed car when the police found it. The car was found crashed to a tree with the woman dead and the man, Bharath Simha Reddy, 23, a degree final year student, injured.
Local residents claimed they saw the couple quarrelling and the girl crying for help minutes before the accident when the car was parked in a deserted place less than a km away from the accident spot. Jubilee Hills police suspect that the couple was drunk and were returning after visiting a pub in Hitech city.
Police said the car’s left side, where the woman was sitting, was completely damaged. “When our team reached the spot we found the car’s left side had rammed the tree. The woman had serious injuries on the head and chest. She died on the spot while the man was injured,” said inspector S. Venkat Reddy of Jubilee Hills police station. The cops, however, said they were not aware about the woman screaming for help before the mishap as nobody had reported it to them.
Residents however, of Huda Enclave said they saw the car (AP 09 CH 1116) parked in front of their gate at around 3.45 am. They claim a quarrel had broken out between the couple and the woman, trying to escape, was shouting for help. Residents said the two drove away later.
Devi’s friends said she had gone out with friends on Saturday night. Two others were also with Devi and Bharath Simha Reddy. The police have booked a case against Bharath Simha Reddy under Section 304 A.
“A test is now being conducted to confirm if there was alcohol in his body,” said SI Guruswami. Bharath Simha Reddy, a resident of Ayyappa Society, is now recovering in hospital. The victim’s parents were unavailable for comment.
