Hyderabad: 2 travel agents held for woman's torture in Saudi

Officials said the two agents were responsible for sending the woman to the Gulf.

Hyderabad: Two weeks after a 46-year-old Hyderabadi woman was pushed off from the third floor by her employer in Saudi Arabia, Begumpet police has proceeded to book a case against two travel agents in the city. Officials said the two agents were responsible for sending the woman to the Gulf. Also, the victim’s relatives said the woman’s employer in Saudi Arabia has been demanding Rs 1.3 lakh for sending her back to India.

Travel agents Jani Mia and Md. Shafi were booked for cheating and criminal breach of trust. Haseena Begum, a resident of Sanathnagar, suffered fractures on both her legs after she was pushed off the third floor by her employer. According to Md. Wajid, the victim’s son, his mother had gone to Saudi Arabia after being promised a salary of Rs 30,000 a month. But he claims she was not paid any money. Instead, when she asked for pay her employer started harassing her.

Unable to bear the harassment, she ran away from the employer’s house but was brought back and pushed from the third floor. Police back home are now planning to exert pressure on their Saudi counterparts to bring Haseena back. Haseena spent a few days at a local hospital in Dammam after sustaining the injury. Despite repeated pleas, the employer has been refusing to send her back to India, relatives alleged.
