Visakhapatnam: Leaving his family in a state of shock, a first-year B. Pharmacy student of GITAM University committed suicide by jumping to death from the building of the university on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Rishi Varma, a native of Hyderabad. Sources said that Rishi was caught by the warden for consumption of liquor and the warden.
Rishi consumed alcohol as he entered the hostel. However, he was caught by the warden who informed this to his parents over phone. The college informed the parents and they are yet to reach Vizag. Arilova police registered a case and an investigation is on.
