Salem: As many as 37 passengers and the crew of a State-owned Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus had a miraculous escape after the vehicle suddenly went up in flames in Erode district. It started around noon, was bound for Sathyamangalam, when its crew, driver Venkatachalam and conductor Karuppaamy noticed smoke billowing from the engine area.
“As the fire began to spread fast, the crew hurried up the passengers to get down the bus and move to safety. Soon the raging fire had engulfed the entire bus,” police said.
