Karimnagar: In horrific incident, a five-year-old girl, daughter of a home guard was raped and was strangulated to death by her 30-year old alcoholic neighbour at Damerakunta village in Kataram mandal on Saturday night. The accused is on the run.
Godavarikhani DSP Vishnu S. Warrier said that the deceased kid was Vinaya Sri, daughter of Togari Radha Swamy, a native of the village and home guard of Kataram police station. The accused was Jakkula Venkta Swamy, a jobless youth and resident of the similar village. He was confining to his residence after being addicted to consumption of liquor. His wife left him following his harassment under the influence of alcohol. He has a history involving multiple crimes in the past.
Venkata Swamy outraged the modesty of the child by inviting her to his residence after she returned from her school at around 7 pm. Later, he killed her by smothering and kept the body under a wooden tub. Then, he fled the scene by locking up the residence. It was the parents of the girl who eventually the body and informed police.
Mr. Warrier, who inspected the scene of crime, stated that the girl had bites all over her body in particular on her neck after being raped. “The accused killed her after assaulting her sexually in an inebriated condition. He is absconding following the incident. A man-hunt was launched for nabbing him,” explained the IPS officer.
Initially, the parents were under the impression that their daughter went missing when she did not return to their residence from school until 6 pm. They grew suspense when door of Venkata Krishan’s residence was remained locked. They found the dress of the girl through a window and broke open the main door only to find the body of the kid.
Following a complaint received from the home-guard, police booked a case and took up investigations.
