4 loan app agents held for fleecing Rs 40 lakh from customer
NELLORE: The Balaji Nagar police arrested four people based in Karnataka and Telangana and representing a loan app firm for fleecing nearly Rs 40 lakh from a customer who repaid Rs 30,000 he borrowed, after threatening to morph his photos and send them to all his contacts.
The arrested have been identified as Jadev Yuvaraj, 21 from Adilabad district, P. Ajay Pavan Kalyan, 21, and R. Sai Kiran, 21 from Nirmal district of Telangana, and Abdul Layik from Karnataka.
According to superintendent of police Ch. Vijaya Rao, the victim, K. Vidya Sagar Reddy, from Aditya Nagar in Nellore city, had borrowed Rs 30,000 through the loan app and cleared the loan with interest this year.
However, the accused agents have started harassing him, claiming that they would project him as a loan fraudster to all his contacts.
The miscreants threatened Reddy that they would share morphed pictures of him with all his contacts if he didn’t pay an extra amount.
Unable to bear the mental torture, he had paid Rs 40 lakh to the accused in installments, yet they continued to threaten him.
Vexed with the harassment, Reddy lodged a complaint with Balaji Nagar police in Nellore city on September 30 this year.
The cyber crime police, along with Balaji Nagar police, have launched an investigation.
