Pawan Kalyan to speak on kapu quota

Pawan had earlier said that he did not want the kapu tag as he wanted a larger role in 2019.

Hyderabad: Actor and Janasena party founder Pawan Kalyan who hails from the Kapu community has decided to break his silence on the Kapu reservation issue. Pawan Kalyan had stated earlier that he didn’t want to have the Kapu tag as he was aspiring for a larger role in AP politics in the 2019 elections.

His Janasena party too didn’t support the Kapu Garjana in Tuni while Congress and YSR Congress openly supported it.

Political analyst Dr Duggaraju Srinivas said, “In the 2014 elections, Kapus went by the word of Pawan Kalyan who asked them to vote for the TD-BJP combine.

He is still popular among the younger generation of Kapus.

Pawan is maintaining a close rapport with the BJP top leadership. He may be waiting for an opportunity and keeping a close watch on the agitation.

Pawan appears to be playing the waiting game and he will have his role whenever he steps actively into AP politics or into the Kapu reservation issue.”

The actor has kept a low profile since August 2015, when he had Tweeted about the farmers’ problems in the AP capital region.

Farmers in the region have been alleging that the actor has kept away and didn’t come to the rescue of Kapus and the farmers in the capital area though he had promised that he
would fight for their rights against land acquisition and forcible pooling.

A source close to Pawan Kalyan said, “We are not commenting anything at this moment. Pawan Kalyan is shooting in Cochin in Kerala. We are bringing the issue to his notice. He had earlier said that he doesn’t want to be identified as a man hailing from a caste community and he has no caste attitude.'
