Hyderabad: The state government has decided to retain the original name Vijaya Dairy for its dairy products. The word “Telangana” will feature under the brand name to ensure it has its own identity since the AP government is also continuing with the Vijaya brand for its dairy products.
Post-bifurcation, the TRS government had decided to change the name of Lepakshi (outlets of the Handicrafts Development Corporation) to Golconda and Nandi awards (given to film and TV actors), to name a few. This, it had claimed, was to give a distinct identity keeping the Telangana culture and traditions in mind.
Although there were speculations that Vijaya Dairy too would get a new name once the Dairy Corporation was split, animal husbandry minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav denied it on Tuesday. He said there were no objections to the name and hence it would be continued in future.
Meanwhile, officials from Vijaya Dairy stated that the dairy’s new logo would be launched to mark the State Formation Day.
