Wind power firms get Telangana incentives, backing
Hyderabad: The TS government has come out with a slew of incentives for the benefit of companies coming forward to set up wind power plants. Among these incentives are exemption of the provisions of Land Ceiling Act, waiver of value added tax and allotment of government land for only 10 per cent of the market value
In tune with Central government’s policy that every state must meet 15 per cent of its total energy requirements from renewable energy sources, the TS government has come out with its Wind Power Policy 2016 with a target of harnessing 2,000 MW from wind of the 4,244 MW potential identified in the state by National Institute of Wind Energy based on initial surveys.
The policy will remain applicable for five years. Wind power projects commissioned during the operative period would be eligible for the incentives declared under this policy, from the date of commissioning and for a period which will be specified by rules to be framed by the government in a month’s time.
For availing the benefits under this policy, power generated from any of the approved modes, has to be consumed within the state. Wind power generation is within the time limit stipulated in the PPA or within 24 months from the date of capacity allotment whichever is earlier, failing which the provisions under this policy automatically stands cancelled. The Wind Policy Cell (WPC) will undertake single window clearance for all WPPs. A transaction charge of Rs 25,000 per MW shall be applicable for processing applications for single window clearance.
