Rajahmundry: Three youngsters are feared to have drowned in the Godavari at Veleru village of Kukkunuru mandal in West Godavari on Saturday.
According to Kukkunuru police, a group of six youth hailing from Nagineni Reddypalem village of Buragampadu mandal of Bhadradri-Kothagudem district in Telangana came to Veleru village to celebrate the birthday of one of them along the river side.
All the six friends went into the river to bathe. However, three of the friends went missing. The other three friends manged to reach the shore and alerted the local villagers and the police. The police began search operation immediately, but were unable to trace the youth according to the last reports before the article went into print.
The three who are feared to have drowned were identified as Srinivasa Reddy, 21, Siva Reddy, 21, and Seshu, 20. The three were working as out-sourcing employees at a private firm. Police have booked a case and investigation is on.
