Union minister Piyush Goel to launch 2 schemes in Andhra Pradesh

The schemes target to conserve 30 per cent savings in energy by 2019.

Vijayawada: Two schemes aimed at making electrical instruments energy-efficient will be launched on Thursday by Union minister of state with independent charge for power, coal and new & renewable energy along with N Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

The first scheme is about making energy-efficient agricultural pumpsets and the second one is energy efficient fans. National Energy Efficient Agriculture Pumps will help farmers to replace old agricultural pumps across the country on subsidy with the energy-efficient ones and a SIM card to farmers that enables them to switch on and off the pumps with mobile phones that reduces the risk of getting electrocuted while operating the pumps at any time in the day.

The second scheme National Energy efficient Fan programme will provide Indian households energy-efficient fans with 5-star rating and 50 watts capacity from leading companies like Usha and Bajaj on EMI of Rs 60 per month and for Rs 1,250 if paid once.

The schemes target to conserve 30 per cent savings in energy by 2019.
Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a Joint Venture of PSUs under the ministry of power, will be responsible for implementing these schemes. It is estimated that the energy-efficiency schemes can save around Rs 20,000 crore on agricultural subsidies with energy efficient pumps and systems.

EESL announced that energy efficient fans can save Rs 700 per annum for the households that use them. A total of two ceiling fans can be bought on one electricity bill from the domestic category consumers only.
