Hyderabad: Man attempts suicide near Raj Bhavan, detained
Hyderabad: A person attempted suicide in front of the Raj Bhavan on Thursday afternoon while Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was meeting Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan presenting the resolution to dissolve the state Assembly.
According to witnesses, the man poured kerosene that he brought and was about to ignite himself with a match stick.
The people who were present on the spot acted immediately and stopped him.
The police immediately shifted him to Panjagutta police station in an auto rickshaw.
Boppani Eshwar, an old student of Nizam college, attempted suicide.
He questioned the Chief Minister, “What have you done to activists who fought for separate Telangana? You have to answer to the all the activists who fought for Telangana and lost their lives. Why are you resigning? For what have we given you power? Where are our jobs?,” he asked.
S. Ravinder, inspector, Panjagutta, said, “Eshwar poured kerosene on himself but he didn’t have matchs with him. It was just a publicity stunt. We have taken him into preventive custody,” he said.
