Hyderabad: Proposed tariff hike in a month
Hyderabad: Households consuming more than 400 units would need to pay Rs 1 per unit more per unit. Nearly 26 lakh domestic consumers will have to pay more if the TS Electricity Regulatory Commission accepts the proposals. About 80.9 lakh households who consume less than 100 units have been spared.
The commission will seek objections and suggestions and conduct public hearings on the proposed tariff hike before taking a decision on the size of tariff revision. The process could take a month or more.
“There is no hike in power tariff for 70 per cent of domestic consumers.,” said TS Southern Discom CMD Raghuma Reddy after submitting the Aggregate (Annual) Revenue Requirement on Tuesday.
“The overall revenue increase from the proposed tariff hike is Rs 1,958 crore (which 9.14 per cent) and increase in realisation is 42 paise per unit on average,” he said.
The discoms are seeking an increase in energy charges by 6 per cent for industrial consumers and 10 per cent for commercial, street lights and general consumers. In the High Tension category, a hike has been proposed in demand charges for HT 1 (A) industrial consumers by 7.5 per cent and 10 per cent for HT-II (Commercial), HT-III (Airports), HT-IV B composite water supply schemes, HT-VI townships and HT V- traction.
Industries to get 55p incentive
TS discoms are offering an incentive of 55 paise per kilowatt hour to industries consuming power during non-peak hours from 10 pm to 6 am. This is aimed at reducing the load during peak hours from 6 pm to 10 pm.
Also, the TS discoms have proposed New Time of Day penalty at Rs 1 per KWh for consumption between 6 am and 10 am.
