Chittoor-born MS student missing in United States since a week

An MS student from Chittoor district has gone missing since a week at Fullerton city in California.

Vijayawada: An MS student from Chittoor district has gone missing since a week at Fullerton city in California, the US. Friends, relatives and the police are on the lookout for the 23-year-old graduate student Praveen Galla. Praveen was depressed about his academic issues, according to Fullerton police.

Consulate General of India in San Francisco has urged Fullerton University Police and local authorities to activate their efforts to trace Praveen after the student’s friend M. Kore and others sent in requests to external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj for help. Praveen, a former student of Gitam University, Bhubaneswar, is a native of Tirupati. His father Galla Nageswara Rao, a native of Nelimarla in Irala mandal is settled in Tirupati. Praveen is pursuing MS from California State University in Fullerton city.

Praveen went missing since the evening of February 1, Tuesday, after taking a taxi ride. The Fullerton Police issued a look out notice. “It is not like Galla to not return home and that he has been depressed lately,” the notice released by police said. He checked in at the Newport Beach according to notification received via mobile phone, police stated. “@sushmaswaraj @MEAquery need help to find missing friend in California from 1 week. Haven’t received enough help yet (sic)”, tweeted Praveen’s friend Bittu Kore with @manojkore handle for which the ministry responded and roped in CGISF. Later speaking to this newspaper, M. Kore said the search process speeded up and cops. “Government has responded and cops are doing there best,” he added.
