Chandrababu Naidu insulted dalits, says YSRC
Hyderabad: The YSR Congress alleged that AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had insulted the Dalits and demanded his resignation. YSRC MLA from Railway Kodur K. Srinivasulu said, “Naidu insulted the Dalit community with his comments. All Dalit leaders in the TD should feel ashamed about this and should question Naidu. His comments have pained me and all Dalits. I demand a case of SC-ST Atrocities Prevention Act against Naidu. He should hold the feet of Dr B.R. Ambedkar and apologise.” The CM’s effigy was burnt in Palcol of West Godavari district by YSRC SC cell activists who also demanded an apology from him.
Meanwhile Mr Naidu, who was in Delhi on Tuesday said that his comment had been distorted. He clarified that he had said that the SCs were the most backward community, and no one wanted to be poor. “I said who wanted to be born in a poor community? They are trying to politicise it,” he clarified. TD leader Varla Ramaiah said, “Some people are trying to misinterpret the comments made by Mr Naidu. The TD has made a Dalit leader, G.M.C. Balayogi, the Lok Sabha Speaker. Mr Naidu was saying the other day that politics and caste are two different aspects. But the YSRC is trying to mislead people. Madiga leader Manda Krisha secured only 25,000 votes when he contested in the Madhira constituency which has 48,000 Madiga votes.”
Earlier, Mr Manda Krishna Madiga, while criticising Mr Naidu, had said, “Naidu has lost his mental balance after the TD’s loss in GHMC polls and the Kapu agitation events. Mr Naidu couldn’t do justice to Madigas, how can we expect him to do justice to Kapus?”
