Hyderabad: Biometric attendance devices spark fights
Hyderabad: The implementation of biometric attendance system has become a headache for officials in Kukatpally twin circles. The GHMC head office issued biometric devices in the first week of March to this circle.
The devices were pre-loaded with the details of sanitary workers. But a few workers under one Sanitation Field Assistant (SFA) were listed under another SFA, which led to clashes between SFAs.
Some of the SFAs were letting off their workers — especially their kin — from attendance. When the biometric devices arrived, they planned to take them to houses of their kin for attendance. But with each device programmed for 21 workers (three groups), the erring SFAs faced problems in getting and providing their kin’s attendance.
After this, two SFAs were reportedly engaged in a fist fight at Mothi Nagar last month. Complaints were lodged against each other with Sanathnagar police. Later, officials took the initiative to rejig the workers with the SFAs.
