Hyderabad: Union energy minister Piyush Goyal said tenders would be called at the appropriate time to meet the wind power capacity target of 60 GW by 2022.
In a written reply to TRS MP B. Vinod Kumar in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, Mr Goyal said annual wind power capacity addition of about 5,500 MW was required to meet the target. The installed wind power capacity is over 32.5 GW.
After the success of the first wind power plant auction for 1,000 MW, in which the tariff discovered was much below the lowest present system of Feed in Tariff (FiT), most of the future wind power procurement would be through competitive bidding.
