Telugu man Madhava Turumella predicted Brexit, US poll results
Visakhapatnam: He says he is disrupting the traditional exit and opinion polls by probing the universe. Even as all the major media houses in the US predicted Democrat Hillary Clinton to win the presidency, a Telugu man living in London was consistent in the last two months that Republican Donald J. Trump will win.
Notably, he had also predicted the recent Brexit, and also the Narendra Modi and N. Chandrababu Naidu wins in the 2014 polls. Madhava Turumella, used Big Data and machine learning techniques, collected huge publicly available data including on social media platforms and analysed it.
Turumella, a career statistician, had worked as Global Data Collection director for the world's second largest opinion polling agency before starting his own ‘Cove Venture’. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology certified Big Data analyst developed his own tool to collect data and also has an experimental lab in the UK where experiments on Big Data and Machine Learning.
He analysed the data US polls over the last four months to test his skills by investing his own money. Turumella has staff working for him at Guntur and Rajkot.
“My team helped me with necessary IT platform and coding etc. I analysed the data using my own techniques. I’m disrupting the traditional exit and opinion polls by probing the universe. I want to point out the flaws in the exit polls because data collection should be impeccable. It should not have any human errors or data entry errors. Why exit polls get it wrong is, for instance, they try to do 24,000 interviews, called sample and then extrapolate it to 320 million (called Universe). This is a flaw. What I want to say is don’t search for your answers in error-prone sample sizes when you can probe the whole universe using our Big Data Trawler – Actionable intelligence,” Turumella told this correspondent from London.
“This election was like never before. As per my original projections Trump was on his way to a record-breaking landslide. He was supposed to reduce Democrats to a historic never-before defeat. However, there was an anger sentiment I was statistically sensing. Ground-level Americans are angry. They are very angry at Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and all others who are ignoring their hunger pangs, unemployment and acting like colonial masters of the world,” Turumella posted on Facebook on Wednesday.
