Cops foil MRF bike rally, slap rider in Ranga Reddy district
Hyderabad: At least 51 national-level bike racers participating in The MRF Mogrip FMSCI Indian National Rally Championship 2016 were on Sunday detained by Manchal police in Ranga Reddy district after they allegedly violated road rules. The bikers, including three women, and the organisers were kept at the police station till late in the night without providing any reason.
A video showing race organiser, Mazdayar K., being assaulted and abused by Manchal inspector M. Gangadhar, surfaced on social media on Sunday evening.
Police claimed that the bikers held a rally on village roads of Thippaiguda without valid permission violating rules in the MV Act. Manchal cops claimed that they took the bikers to the police station because the villagers complained about the bikers creating a nuisance.
