Mother Teresa had great sense of humour: Missionaries of Charity

Spokesperson of the Missionaries of Charity said that they would hold special prayers to celebrate the news.

Kolkata: With Pope Francis announcing that Mother Teresa, a Roman Catholic religious sister and missionary, will be made a saint of the Roman Catholic Church at a ceremony on September 4, Sunita Kumar, a spokesperson of the Missionaries of Charity, shared her experiences with Mother Teresa and revealed that the latter had a great sense of humour.

"I have spent so many years. We always used to laugh. We went to houses of the people who were in misery and saw them smiling and laughing and with them we used to laugh as well. We learnt how to accept," she told ANI.

She said that nothing special would be conducted but instead they would hold special prayers to rejoice over the news. Pope Francis on Tuesday made the announcement at a meeting of Cardinals to give final approval to several sainthood causes.

The announcement was expected after the Pope, in December, approved a second miracle attributed to Mother Teresa's intercession the final hurdle to make her a saint. The actual date falls on the eve of the 19th anniversary of her death.
