Telangana: Singareni Collieries Company Limited staff stir from today
Hyderabad: Workers of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited belonging to five national trade unions will go on strike from Thursday after their talks with the deputy labour commissioner on jobs for successors failed on Wednesday.
After the talks, CITU leader Manda Narasimha Rao said that the SCCL management had not given any clarification on jobs for dependants. Another meeting was held on salaries of Singareni contract workers at the office of deputy labour commissioner here. The management did not react positively on the issue.
Singareni workers belonging to CITU, AITUC, INTUC, HMS and BMS will be going on strike. If the strike continues for more than 10 days, thermal power plants in the state will face a shortage of coal. TSGenco director (Thermal) M. Sachidanandam said that they had stocks for 10 days.
