Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao gives free hand to cops in drug case
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday said the government would give full power and total freedom to officials investigating the drug racket case and book cases against those involved, however influential they may be.
Rao, during a meeting at Pragathi Bhavan, asked excise and police officials not to spare anyone found guilty in the drug racket and to book TRS leaders or even Cabinet ministers and send them to jail, if they were found to be involved.
“The state government will not protect anyone. You have total liberty in catching the culprits. Use your experience and power to eradicate this malady,” the Chief Minister noted.
The CM directed officials to make Hyderabad a drug-free city. He said officials should take stringent measures against those supplying drugs and indulging in adulteration. Rao said some corrupt officials were also involved.
“ACB should act more rigorously. Prepare a list of such corrupt officials and keep a close vigil on them. Book cases and punish those offering bribes as well as those accepting them. It is not difficult to eradicate corruption in any department,” the CM said.
He said he was pained to hear that even blood was being adulterated and felt that new laws need to be enacted to punish the guilty.
