Jayalalithaa's 68th birthday fete to go Pan-Indian

Party headquarters here on Friday announced that the celebrations will go on for five days.

Chennai: As the AIADMK supremo and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa will turn 68 on February 24, the party headquarters here on Friday announced that the celebrations will go on for five days in as many as eight states including Tamil Nadu, giving it a pan-Indian flavour.

While rallies and reaching out to the poor in different ways including ‘Annadhanam’ would mark the occasion, for which partymen are already preparing in a big way, this time the geographical spread would not be found wanting either.

Outside Tamil Nadu, the AIADMK already has good presence in most of the Southern states and even contests local body elections including in Kerala and Karnataka.

The party’s propaganda secretary Thambidurai in a statement here said that Amma’s 68th birthday celebrations will be held not only in neighbouring Puducherry, but also in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, the national capital territory of Delhi, and Andamans, among other states.

The events would include public meetings and cultural programmes which will go on till February 28, he said, adding, MPs’, MLAs’ and other party functionaries will participate in these programmes in different states.
