Bengaluru: Three girls and a woman drowned in a lake in Channapatna taluk of Ramanagaram district, where they had gone to wash clothes on Saturday afternoon. The deceased have been identified as Gayathri (35) her daughter Poornima (13), Anushree (11) and Namrita (10), all residents of Virupakshipura in Channapatna taluk. All the four drowned while trying to save each other. Gayathri and Poornima, as usual, were heading to Ramayyana Kere in Virupakshipura where they wash their clothes. Meanwhile, Anushree and Namrita who stay in the neighbouring houses accompanied them to the lake.
While Gayathri and Poornima were busy washing clothes, the two girls Anushree and Namrita began playing in the water. They soon reached the deep end of the lake and started to drown.
Gayathri and Poornima rushed to save them, but they too drowned.
