Hyderabad: A pay hike is in the offing for TS government employees, most likely in the months running up to the 2019 elections, with Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao all set to constitute the 11th Pay Revision Comm-ission.
State staff had last got a pay hike on June 2, 2014, when the state was formed. This was on the basis of the recommendations of the 10th Pay Revision Commission, set up in 2013 by Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, the last Chief Minister of undivided AP. The government is working towards constituting the PRC in a month or two to enable the commission to make recommendations by February 2018 so that the new pay scales could be implemented from April 1, 2018.
The elections are due in April 2019. A total of 3.5 lakh employees and 2 lakh pensioners would benefit from the new pay commission recommendations..
TS treats 2013 as cut-off year
A CMO official said, “The CM has asked the finance department to prepare the file to constitute 11th PRC and send it to him for approval. The finance department is already on the job. The PRC will be constituted in a month.”
The 10th PRC had recommended 25 per cent fitment (basic pay hike) in 2013 but was not implemented due to state-bifurcation related issues.
After the bifurcation in June 2014, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao announced a 43 per cent fitment, much in excess of PRC recommendations, as a token of gratitude for the role played by employees during the statehood agitation.
The next revision is due in 2019, as the previous exercise was done in 2014. The government wants to take 2013 as the cut-off year so that the new pay scales come into force in the election year.
