At 10.8° C, Hyderabad gets coldest day in 6 years
Hyderabad: December 20 was the coldest day in the last six years in Hyderabad. So if you thought Tuesday was very chilly, Wednesday night temperatures plunged to 10.8° C, the lowest since 2010. Telangana is in the grip of a ‘cold wave’ and this weather condition is likely to continue for the next two days, current forecasts suggest.
Adilabad stood at 4 degrees C, the lowest in the entire state, followed by Medak 7°, Khammam and Badrachalam at 9°. Nalgonda district though recorded a warm 15°.
Back in 2010, Hyderabad recorded a low of 8.9° C on December 21. All through the years since then, the lowest has revolved in the range of 12—11—10 degrees C. The all-time record for the city was 7.1 degrees C recorded on December 14, 1966.
‘Cold wave’ conditions are announced only when the temperatures drop by five 5 degrees below the normal for that time of the winter season. For instance, the normal for Hyderabad in December is 15 ° C. Fog or mist is forecast for the city for the December 20-24 period.
