Bengaluru: Bomb at Lalbagh Metro station? No, it's just a firecracker scare!
Bengaluru: While the city police were on alert in view of the Republic Day, a suspicious object found at the under-construction Metro station at Lal Bagh West Gate created panic on Monday night. After a thorough check, the police concluded that the object was a firecracker.
The police said that they received a call at the police control room around 9 pm by a retired police inspector, who informed them that he had got a call from known persons about a suspicious object found at the Metro station.
Following the information, the police along with the sniffer dog and Anti Sabotage Check squads rushed to the spot. The suspicious object was found on the second floor of the Metro station. After a thorough check, they concluded that it was a roll of handmade firecrackers.
DCP (South) S.D. Sharanappa said that it was an act of some mischief mongers and efforts are on nab them. “It was a home guard who first found the object and informed the retired police sub-inspector, who in turn informed the retired inspector, who called the control room. There are no security cameras at the station as it is still under construction. A case has been registered at the Siddapura police station,” he said.
Following the incident, City Police Commissioner Praveen Sood and other senior officers visited the spot. The police have also increased security to all functional and under construction Metro stations in the city.
