Andhra Pradesh: Employees' unions list demands for shifting
Hyderabad: Demanding the issue of local status be resolved before they shift to the state capital region from Hyderabad, AP employee’s union leaders on Thursday sought five-day week and allowances among other demands from the government.
However, the state government made it clear that the entire administration should shift to the capital region by June 2, this year.
Minister P. Narayana, Chief Secretary S.P. Tucker and the IAS officers committee held discussions with AP employee’s union leaders at the Secretariat.
APNGO’s president Ashok Babu, AP Revenue Services Association president Bopparaju Venkateswarlu, AP Gazetted Officers Association president Krishnaiah and AP Secretariat Employee’s president U. Murali Krishna represented the employees.
The employees’ leaders pointed out that children of some employees are in crucial stages of their education and if they are shifted to the capital region without the local status issue being resolved, they would find it extremely difficult to get admissions.
Reacting to this, Mr Narayana said that the state government has already sent proposals to Centre on the local status. “If necessary, we will approach the Centre for resolution of the issue after consulting Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu,” he said.
The employees’ leaders demanded introduction of the five-day week and 30 per cent HRA after they shift to the capital area.
The Secretariat employee’s union president asked the minister whether he could given an assurance that construction the temporary Secretariat in Amaravati township would be completed by the deadline of June 2.
He also asked how many employees were at present required to work from the capital region. To this, the minister said all the employees should shift to the capital region by June 1 and the temporary Secretariat would be ready by June-end.
The minister said that he would have to discuss the five-day week, allowances and other demands with the CM. He said before the Secretariat is shifted, all HODs should shift to capital region.
Mr Narayana said that they could meet again on March 9, and in the meantime, they will try to get a temporary order from the Centre on local status issue.
