N. Chandrababu Naidu sets stone for first highway in Amaravati

Amaravati: The first high-speed road of Amaravati would be completed in the next nine months. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu set foundation stone for the construction of Amaravati seed capital access highway at Venkatapalem in the capital region on Saturday. He said that this road will start from Vijayawada Kanakadurga Varadhi and will end at Borupalem.

He said that the six-lane high-speed highway is the first one in Amaravati which would be ready after nine months for public usage. Addressing the public of Venkatapalem, Mr Naidu said that cooperation of the villagers is essential for the Amaravati seed capital access highway and appealed to them to cooperate.

He explained that Rs 200 crore would be spent for the construction of the highway in the first phase and the connectivity to Vijayawada-Chennai National Highway would be given in the second phase.

“The government directed the contract company to construct the road with good quality in nine months time,” he said. “Later, another eight major roads would be constructed from East, West, South and North to connect the Amaravati Seed Capital highway,” Mr Naidu said. The Chief Minister said that internal roads connecting the highways would be constructed to develop all villages of Amaravati capital region.

Guntur district incharge minister and deputy Chief Minister N. China Rajappa, minister for agriculture P. Pulla Rao, minister for social welfare R. Kishore Babu, CRDA vice-chairman and minister for municipal administration, P. Narayana and others participated in the programme.
