Grief-stricken Godavari districts mourn Krishnam Raju
KAKINADA: Several ministers and VIPs from various walks of life paid homage to cine actor and former Union minister Krishnam Raju who passed away in Hyderabad on Sunday.
Cinematography minister SV Krishna said Raju as a film start had won the hearts of Teulugu and he was also a political leader dedicated to the causes of the people. “His films and his good works will be remembered forever.”
Kakinada MP Vanga Githa said she was the ZP chairperson when Raju was the MP from Kakinada. He used to work in coordination with the local bodies in undertaking development works in the constituency and his services will be remembered by all, especially his efforts to place Kakinada on the Main Railway Line by linking the port town with Pithapuram.
Former deputy CM and Eluru MLA Alla Nani condoled the demise. He recalled the services rendered by Raju to Godavari districts and the state in general.
Several BJP leaders and party workers in erstwhile East and West Godavari districts expressed grief over the death. Many of them rushed to Hyderabad on hearing the news. BJP leader Malakondaiah said he had worked closely with Krishnam Raju, when he contested from Kakinada. The Citizen’s Initiative secretary Duvvuri Subrahmanyam also paid homage to Krishnam Raju.
BJP Kisan Cell state secretary Alluri Satyanarayana said Krishnam used to treat party workers as his family members. Raju got many works sanctioned and he also used his MP funds for the development works. BJP workers had expected that he would be made a governor of some state, he said.
