Soft drink makes three kids sick in Telangana
Hyderabad: Three children aged four, three and one, fell ill after consuming the popular drink ‘Frooti’, their father Mohammed Azam of Tadbun in the Old City alleged on Sunday.
The children consumed Frooti on Saturday evening and started vomiting and complaining of abdominal pains. Mr Azam said, “I had got the soft drink from a kirana store and after consuming it they started vomiting. I took them immediately to the hospital.”
The children were admitted to a Hospital in the Old City where they were stabilised and then shifted to another hospital at Ramkote. Dr Mohammed Yusufuddin of Farah Hospital who treated the children, said, “It’s a case of consuming contaminated juice. The children had very severe pain even after vomiting out the liquid indicating that the substance consumed was very toxic.”
Inspector Rudrabhaskar of the Kalapathar police station said the cool drink packets had been seized by the food inspectors. An alert has been sent out in the area to report any case of vomiting or abdominal pain due to consumption of these drinks. Balala Hakkula Sangham president Anuradha Rao has demanded that the GHMC stop the sale of the present stock of the soft drink in the city.
