T A Ahmed Kabeer slams reports on dissent in Muslim League
MALAPPURAM: T.A. Ahmed Kabeer, the newly elected secretary of the Indian Union Muslim League legislature party, has denied reports of his protest against the recent reshuffling. There were reports that he was unhappy at his juniors getting better positions in the legislature party. “No such discussion or development has happened," he said. "Everybody had agreed on Dr M.K. Muneer as the floor leader, as well as other nominees. Reports of me resigning from my post were not true.” Mr Kabeer who hails from Ernakulam represents Mankada constituency in the district.
Reports in a section of media had claimed that he had offered party president Sayed Hyderali Shihab Thangal to resign, but he rejected it, and that he had reservations against V.K. Ibrahim Kunju, also from Ernakulam, as the deputy leader bypassing his seniority. However, Mr Kabeer said that the party leadership appointed all on Saturday after discussions and nobody had opposed. Dr Muneer also replaces P.K. Kunhalikutty as the deputy leader of the Opposition, bypassing his senior colleague P.K. Abdu Rabb.
