Mysuru: Yaduveer Krishnadatta free to enter politics, says Pramoda Devi Wadiyar
Mysuru: Rajmatha of the erstwhile royal family of Mysuru Pramoda Devi Wadiyar said that scion of the Mysuru royal family Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar is free to take the political plunge if he wishes but she has no interest in entering politics.
She was speaking to mediapersons in the residential portion of Mysuru Palace on Thursday. She said, “Yaduveer need not take my permission to enter politics. He is free to do whatever he likes. If he is interested, he can enter politics,” she said.
On BJP president Amit Shah’s visit and on rumours that he had offered a Rajya Sabha ticket to her, she clarified, “The visit of Mr Shah was only a courtesy call. He did not offer me a Rajya Sabha ticket. We will not identify ourselves with any particular political party nor will we campaign in favour of anybody.
We will work for the cause of the people, we will join hands for them,” she said. She said, “The tax issue which the royal family was facing has been resolved. In fact we have paid excess tax since 1974, and all that money has been returned to us after 44 years. Late scion Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar had questioned it. There were six cases since 2012. We have won all those cases.”
She added, “Also ever since 1977, though the entry fee collection of Mysuru Palace must be used for palace maintenance and the remaining amount has to be returned to us, they are not giving any money to us. There have been several such issues with regard to the state government, if they are ready for a dialogue we will release the list of issues we have with them.”
