Karnataka: Suitcase! Revanna's son says it all

He volunteered to back youth in the campaign against corruption within the party.

Bengaluru: JD(S) patriarch H.D. Deve Gowda was evidently squirming with embarrassment when the rift in his family tumbled out in the open when his grandson, Prajwal Revanna, made a startling revelation about “suitcase” culture in the party, while warning the young ticket aspirant of disciplinary action.

A ticket aspirant from Hunsur Assembly constituency in Mysuru district, Mr Prajwal Revanna, son of former minister H D Revanna, made the controversial statement two days after veteran Congress leader A H Vishwanath, who represented Hunsur earlier, joined Dal (S). That’s not all. He volunteered to back youth in the campaign against corruption within the party.

Though he launched a damage control exercise by offering to let both his daughters-in-law contest as well a wounded Mr Deve Gowda admitted “My grandson’s statement has hurt me a lot.”

Zameer: Prajwal speaks the truth
Suspended JD(S) MLA Zameer Ahmed Khan asserted that what Prajwal Revanna, son of former minister and MLA, H.D. Revanna had claimed, was absolutely true and accused State JD(S) President H.D. Kumaraswamy of practising 'Suitcase' politics.

He told reporters that when Mr Kumaraswamy cannot tolerate the growth of anyone, how could he tolerate the growth of Prajwal. "It is Mr Kumaraswamy who engages in Suitcase politics, not Mr H.D. Deve Gowda. I fully endorse whatever Mr Prajwal has said. There is competition between Mr Deve Gowda and Mr Kumaraswamy over the distribution of poll tickets, both are making contradictory statements. While Mr Gowda identifies loyal workers, Mr Kumaraswamy gives prominence to moneybags".

Holding Mr Kumaraswamy responsible for his and other six legislators’ impending exit from the JD(S), Mr Zameer said all of them would soon join the Congress Party and contest on the 'Hand' symbol in the 2018 Assembly polls.
