Pawan Kalyan likely to contest from Anantapur
Anantapur: Academician and Jana Sena leader Mr Sudhir Reddy has invited party chief and popular actor Mr Pawan Kalyan to contest from Guntakal Assembly constituency.
During his two-day visit to the district, Mr Pawan Kalyan had sent forth signals about his intention to concentrate, in particular, on Anantapur and plans to contest as a legislator.
If so, he will be the fourth film star to contest from Anantapur district as TD founder N.T. Rama Rao was elected thrice from Hindupur after he migrated from coastal region.
The TD founder served as a chief minister and also leader of the opposition party as legislator from Hindupur. His son Nandamuri Harikrishna, also a film star from Tollywood industry, was elected as his successor.
Presently, N.T. Rama Rao's another son and film star Nandamuri Balakrishna is serving as an MLA from the same area as Hindupur has turned into the party's stronghold. Mr Pawan Kalyan has announced his first party office to get launched in Anantapur.
He also formed a 'vedika' with intellectuals to fight on the issues of farmers and development of backward district at national level. Party sources revealed Chiranjeevi was forced to contest from Anantapur assembly segment when he launched the Praja Rajyam party, but contested from Tirupati at the last movement.
“We have invited the party chief to contest from Anantapur district after he expressed his desire,” senior Jana Sena leader Amarnath said.
However, the Jana Sena chief said there was time to think about that, “but, we need to concentrate on meetings in other districts and to establish party offices.”
