Telangana: TTV Dinakaran meets Sasikala on birthday
Bengaluru: AIADMK (Amma) faction leader T.T.V. Dinakaran welcomed the Tamil Nadu state government’s move to conduct a judicial inquiry into the death of former chief minister J. Jayalalithaa.
He was speaking to reporters after meeting party leader Sasikala at the Parappana Agrahara central jail on Friday. As it was Sasikala's birthday on Friday, her nephew Dinakaran had come to meet her along with his wife Anuradha and daughter. An MP from Puducherry and three MLAs from Tamil Nadu had accompanied Dinakaran’s family.
They arrived around 12.30 pm and took permission from the jail authorities to meet Sasikala. They entered the jail around 12.45 pm and came out around 2.30 pm. It is learnt that they discussed the political developments in Tamil Nadu with Sasikala for more than an hour.
Later speaking to reporters, Dinakaran said that he welcomed the TN government’s decision on conducting a judicial inquiry into the death of J. Jayalalithaa. “In fact, we had demanded for an inquiry earlier but now they have ordered for that. The inquiry will also help clear some doubts that are in the minds of people about Sasikala,” he added.
On the merger of EPS and OPS factions, he alleged that they were joining hands for personal benefits and not in the interest of the party, nor the people. “All they want is power and thus they are merging the factions. However, we still have MLAs who support us in both the factions. They are like sleeper cells and would support us when the time comes,” he said.
Meanwhile, he said that the government should also consider the opinions of stakeholders regarding its decision to convert Jayalalithaa’s Poes Garden residence into a memorial.
