Stir as Youth Congress leader CR Mahesh quits party
Kollam: Youth Congress state vice-president C.R. Mahesh has announced his resignation from the party on Wednesday. He also said that he was “leaving politics” and will seek some “job for a living”.
Mr Mahesh had criticised Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi the other day and asked him to resign in a Facebook post.
“I don’t intend to continue stinking in a rotten party. The party members are solely responsible for the poll debacle faced by the Congress. I am leaving politics. For the time being, I do not intend to join other parties. I will seek a job for my living,” he said.
Youth Congress national secretary R. Ravindradass in a statement in New Delhi informed that Mahesh has heen suspended with immediate effect.
“The suspension is due to disciplinary action and there is no reply for the displeasure note issued,” said Ravindradass, in-charge of Kerala and Lakshadweep.
Mr Mahesh had in his Facebook post opined that Mr Gandhi should quit if he is not interested in leading the party. Terming Congress leader A.K. Antony as ‘Mauni Baba’, Mr Mahesh had also lashed out against the group fights in state politics, he had said.
Mr Mahesh had contested in the last year’s Assembly elections from Karunagappally where he put up a tough fight in the LDF surge that swept the district.
He was defeated by R. Ramachandran of the CPI by a small margin of just 1,759 votes.
