Watch: Dale Steyn picks first IPL wicket, gully cricket style
Mumbai: Pace machine Dale Steyn’s career has been plagued by injuries off late. The South African, who last played an international match against Sri Lanka on March 28 during the ICC World T20, is currently waiting for his first IPL match sitting in the Gujarat Lions.
Injuries aside, Steyn ensures he still remains the good human being he is. Recently, while in Mumbai, the 32-year-old decided to give his celebrity status a break and stepped on to the streets of the ‘Maximum City’ to play ‘gully cricket’. Add to the amusement, Steyn also picked up a wicket, which he termed as his first wicket in the IPL.
Steyn has shed the star tag quite often and played with common children. Last July, when the Proteas had toured Bangladesh, Steyn had expressed his wish to play in the rains with Bangladeshi locals in Chittagong, after the day’s play of the Test with Bangladesh had washed out.
Stuck in my room all day, watching these kids playing soccer in the rain looks like plenty fun... #shouldigo pic.twitter.com/0bv7bK45qr

And eventually he had a wonderful time playing soccer with the kids in the rain. A video was doing the rounds on social media.
Just before the ICC World Cup last year, the humble South African team visited their neighbourhood nearby and Steyn received bowling advice from a 11-year-old.
