Watch: Ravindra Jadeja gives perfect reply to Matthew Wade's sledging

Dharamsala: Tensions always run high in a match between India and Australia. And when it is a series decider like the Dharamsala Test, this aspect of the game just goes sky-high.

With India struggling with six wickets down on the second and third day of the fourth and final Test, Australia wicketkeeper Matthew Wade decided to get a little chirpy, when India allrounder Ravindra Jadeja was at the crease.

Wade, who was praising Nathan Lyon during this stretch of play, also drew comparisons between the Aussie spinner and Jadeja.

“Very good in all conditions, Gary (Lyon). Great in all conditions, Gary,” Wade kept chirping away from behind the stumps, towards the end of Day 2. “You get wickets all over the world, mate. You're not just a one-trick pony.”

Jadeja gave Wade the perfect answer by smacking a short-pitched Lyon ball for a six, to bring up his 1,000th run in Test cricket; the 28-year-old became the 10th player in the history of Indian cricket, to score 1,000 runs and pick up 100 Test wickets.

That however, was nowhere near to stopping Wade from chirping away at Jadeja. Wade continued to taunt Jadeja, saying: “I’m going to get a selfie with him at the end of the game. Put it on instagram, as soon as the game finishes.”

Umpire Marais Erasmus had to step in, at one point, as he asked Wade to wrap-up the sledging: “Wade, are you going to stop that?”

However, Wade continued chirping: “Careful with that sword too.”

Later on, Jadeja also gave Wade back some of his own medicine, saying: “I don’t understand why the Australian selectors pick you for Tests. You don’t deserve it.”

Some of the close-in fielders came to Wade’s rescue on this occasion: “You don’t deserve to play anywhere but here (in India).”

Jadeja gave Wade the perfect reply though, as he steered the ball to the off side, to bring up his half-century, and finally have his moment in the sun – doing his ever-so-familiar sword celebration.
