Veteran sports scribe Samuel Vasanth Kumar passes away
Hyderabad: Veteran sports journalist Samuel Vasanth Kumar passed away on Tuesday morning at a city hospital following a massive heart attack. He was 64 and is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
Funeral will be held at the Narayanguda Cemetery at 10.30 am on Wednesday.
Sam, as he was known in sports circles, was also an accomplished Basketball Federation of India referee, and served the AP and Hyderabad basketball associations in various capacities besides being closely associated with it at the YMCA in Narayanguda and Secunderabad. He was also Assistant Director, Sports, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
The Press Club of Hyderabad, sports bodies and sports journalists associations condoled his demise and offered commiserations to the bereaved family.
